Tilmicosin inhibits Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria and is an economic, safe and effective antibacterial drug commonly used in livestock and poultry. It is mainly used for infectious diseases in pigs, chickens, cattle, dairy cows and goats, especially in the prevention and control of livestock and poultry respiratory diseases such as actinomycosis pleuropneumonia, pasteurellosis and chicken mycobacteriosis. Tilmicosin has been widely used in the treatment of mycoplasma diseases in poultry due to its strong antibacterial activity against mycoplasma.
Tilmicosin has similar broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity to tylosin, but its antibacterial activity is significantly better than that of tylosin. However, compared to tylosin, it is an economical, safe and effective antibacterial growth drug commonly used in livestock and poultry and is the preferred alternative to tylosin for the prevention and treatment of respiratory tract infections in livestock. It can be made into compound preparations such as tilmicosin soluble powder, tilmicosin premix (20%), tilmicosin oral solution and tilmicosin injection.
