4. Indications
Local Anesthesia:This is a short-acting ester-type local anesthetic widely used in veterinary medicine for various local surgical procedures, including:
Infiltration Anesthesia & Block Therapy:Used for minor surgeries such as skin suturing and foreign body removal.
Conduction Anesthesia (Nerve Block): Used for dehorning procedures in cattle and obstetric operations.
Epidural Anesthesia: Used for caudal anesthesia in large animals like cattle and horses to perform perineal or hind limb surgeries.
Adjuvant Therapy: Low-concentration intravenous injection can be used to relieve intestinal spasms, pain from burns/trauma, and generalized pruritus.
5. Dosage and Administration
The 5% Procaine Hydrochloride Injection is a high-concentration formulation. Do not use directly. It must be diluted to the required concentration based on the specific application.
Route of Administration:Primarily subcutaneous, submucosal, or perineural injection.
Dosage Reference:
Important Note: Adding an appropriate amount of Epinephrine Hydrochloride (e.g., 0.2-0.5 ml of 0.1% Epinephrine Hydrochloride per 100 ml of solution) can significantly prolong the duration of anesthesia to approximately 1.5 hours.
6. Adverse Reactions
Local Vasodilation: This product can dilate blood vessels, potentially increasing the risk of bleeding at the surgical site.
Central Nervous System (CNS) Reactions:With excessive dosage or accidental intravascular injection, CNS toxicity (initial excitation followed by depression) may occur.
Idiosyncratic Reactions:In rare cases, CNS excitation such as agitation, tremors, or convulsions may be observed in animals like cats and horses.
Cardiovascular Effects: Hypotension may occur in very rare cases.
7. Withdrawal Period

Milk: Typically 0 hours.
8. Storage
Conditions: Protect from light, store in a closed container.
Temperature: Store below 25°C.
Stability:After the first withdrawal of solution from the vial, the remaining solution should be used or discarded within 28 days.
